Hi from the brand new Buttons blog! I'm so excited about my new look. Julie from LeeLouBlogs is AMAZINGGGG! So I've been slacking. Sorry. I've been busy. And stressed. And stuff... But I have a week's worth of pictures to catch you up on. Then I promise to be more fun this week. Perhaps I'll let you see me in my middle eastern bathroom-wear.

Wednesday August 26: Date Night

David surprised me and took me on a sweet, special date. We went to see Casablanca IN THE MOVIE THEATER. It was amazing. Sold out. Plus it was my first time (I know! I also have never seen Forrest Gump. And also don't know if it's spelled Forest or Forrest) PLUS there was a Tanqueray event before the movie and I slurped down 2 (free) gin & tonics in 15 minutes and then ate a HUGE bucket of buttery popcorn on my own. I love popcorn, if you didn't know. I will always get it. Even if I ate a house at dinner before the movie. (PS: This is the day I wore a short dress & didn't shave. So all you haters of hairy legs.. you can't tell. Plus it was cold in the theatre so David didn't mind. I kept him warm ..... :) jk)

Yes. I missed Monday. Again. I fail at this game. Also.. it's August 31st.. and I thought this game would be ending soon...and it doesn't look like it's going to.... So perhaps that's the 'it' I'm over...

I'd like to share a conversation I had with L.A. Nikki last night:

L.A. Nikki: Ok going to write a blog post about crazy people
Me: Good luck and may the source be with you
L.A. Nikki: the source?! Is that a blogging thing?
Me: No! I think it's from Star Trek
L.A. Nikki: OMG!!! Are you serious? I thought you were riffing on it- it's "may the force be with you" and it's star wars. HAHAHAH i love you "may the source be with you"
Me: hahahahahahahaha Oops!
L.A. Nikki: I'm crying I'm totally laughing out loud- you rule.
Me: I'm crying. Tears... streaming down my face
L.A. Nikki: I'm using that as my blogging line from now on. I'm signing off "May the source be with you" (sometimes buttons messes up her nerd movies and missquotes star wars and its funny)
L.A. Nikki: it's all about the "source"
Me: omg. i JUST got it! THE SOURCE! Like the SOURCE for content... for pictures! I'm gonna pee my pants!
L.A. Nikki: you JUST got the blogging refrence now?! HAHAHAHA- you get better and better!

I've never pretended to be good with pop-culture stuff. I've been known to ask if Morrisey is the lead singer of Van Morrison. David swears that once I said Kurt Cobain was the lead singer of the Counting Crows. I did say that. But I was kidding. He believed me, though, because it really does sound like something I would say. What can I say? My childhood was filled with Amy Grant records & McGee and Me (which, of my gosh, still exists. And I'm pretty sure Kirk Cameron's son is the kid... yes I watched that video on the website long enough to form that conclusion...) Ifyou must know, I just wrote "Kurt Cameron" and then changed it to Kirk. See. Pop Culture and I don't agree (also, I probably should be glad that I didn't know his name)

The laughter never stops with L.A. Nikki. This was earlier today:

When our retail manager, Diane, gets back from vacation, I plan on having her take pictures of me around the building. We have some really beautiful scenery. Forktrucks & stuff. Just you wait...

Oh Buttons? Where art thou?

To the 35 of you who visit me daily (on average) and the 19 of you who follow me, I am sorry. I have been so very MIA. But here are 10 things that I have been up to:

1. My favy artist drew me a cupcake. I didn't link to her b/c I'm hoarding her amazing ability for a time when I can post all about her.
2. Scotty turned 30 and we had a super fun party Saturday night where bluegrass was played, wine was consumed straight out of huge jugs (that's what she said), Laura made a brilliant observation about muscles, PreggersPants belly moved in all sorts of weird ways and I made a mental note to cherish that night forever in my memory.
3. My wittle cousin moved to New Orleans to start this organization. We wore Mexi-staches to send him off
4. I've been ruling August with L.A. Nikki (don't click that. She doesn't update her blog. For serious. She's the worst)
5. We went to Montreal. We were 'of' it. (Omg, I'm so funny. Don't you dare not laugh at that joke.)
6. I learned how to make .gifs
7. I realized how awful my hair was looking and that something had to be done about it. So I cut it off. And for the first time in my life an electric razor was used on the back of my head. I about had a heart attack.
8. A semi-successful author (if you consider #1 on NY Times best sellers list successful) announced she stalks my blog (no not this one)
9. I'm internet friends with the guy who created this button (and many others) Drama Button
10. I may have a new Buttons Blog design coming in the next few weeks because of my new friend at LeeLou Blogs

Where has Buttons been?

Hi. I've missed the Buttons blog. I was having fun for awhile there posting fun Buttonsey things. But this has kept me busy as well as secret blogs #1 and #2.

Plus I've been sad. I've tried to think of how I can talk about being sad on the Buttons blog, but I don't know. I'm just sad. So send happy loving thoughts my way (and cupcakes- which someone already did and hopefully I will have proof of it tomorrow)

But last week's pictures were colorful, too.... and that brightens my spirits a teeny bit

Twitter is down- humph

Twitter is down. And I'm beyond myself with what to do. First of all I texted Jamie to make sure it's not just me. (it's not)Then I went to this website to make sure it's not just me & Jamie:

I'm at a loss- I have all these brilliant things to tweet:

"Big hole in the armpit of my shirt. Crap"

"Still have great deals on hot tubs left over from our sale. Come see us today"

"Legal in Georgia"

and I can't. (I run 3 twitter accounts so I literally typed all those things this morning and hit 'send' and it didn't work :( humph)

But it got me thinking about myself, my mornings & my love for twitter. I got twitter years ago when it first came out and was boring, and it seems like in the last few months it's just blown up- people are using it for good, fast communication. If you love a clothing store- follow them on twitter. If they're good at what they do, they'll have sales announced FIRST to twitter & coupons available only for their followers. Same thing with news sources- I hear everything first on Twitter. MJ's death, Anna Paquin & Stephen Moyer's engagmenet (real important, I know) It's just... there. I don't have to search 'who got engaged today" or "what celebs died today." I just always know- because someone is talking about it on Twitter.

So my morning routine is, come in, grab coffee, start my computer, check my email, twitter comes on (I use digsby to maintain all my accounts), say hello to the twitterverse and see what I missed overnight. This morning? I have no idea. World War 3 could've been declared and I wouldn't even know. (Although I did listen to NPR on my way in- BBC news hours probably would've mentioned that, huh?)

It's crazy. I'm so connected. And so dependant on it. And I can't tell you that I think it's a bad thing. Sure, there are some negative things that go along with our world being in constant, face-paced communication, but I think the good outweighs the bad.

Anyway.... have I missed anything big!? Fill me in!
