Roomalufugus & Roomface meet again...

So once upon a time, forever ago, I went to L.A. You remember it. It was amazing.

After waking Nikki up and kissing her good-bye (oh, I don't think she was really awake. I'm pretty sure she was 92% sleep or perhaps even slightly dead) David & I took Cecil to LAX. And then went to IHOP. Cuz that's what you do when you get off a random exit somewhere on the 5 between LA & Orange County.

Remember how I tweeted my trip? It was amazing:

la update #576: no longer in LA. cried. miss nikki. at an ihop in carson CA. off to newport beach to make out w/ seth cohen

carson, ca update #1: i have officially gained mucho weight this week. thanks @itsshowtimenikki & @inandoutburger & @liquorstore and @mexico

(Um, please die that I thanked @mexico)

Newport Beach- CALIFONIAAAAAAAAA here we comee!!!!

David was flying out later that night, but we were going to spend the day with my first roommate in college EVER, Miss Heidi Burkey aka Roomalufugus. She lives in Orange County. I forget where because all this happened over TWO MONTHS AGO.

costa mesa update#1: hanging with roomalufugus at the anti-mall mall & shop shopping + eat eating.

I heart the Anti-Mall Mall bad. It's brilliant. Plus I got the cutest shirt at a thrift shop that I've worn multiple times in the last 2 months without washing. Cuz it's handwash only. And I hate to handwash.

Last year when I visited Heids, she took me to Laguna Beach, so I wanted to go back again to show D. Especially since he loves Lauren from The Hills soooo much. I think he wishes I were her. Seriously (Um, not I'm not serious)

Do we look alike? I copied her hair

Prettiest beach EVER...or so I thought...

newport beach update #2: just had a sniffle saying g-bye to hubby.
about to go to happy hr w/ heids. yay

Happy Hour was super happy. Because it was cheap, I had amazing fish tacos and it was on the water, in Newport. I felt like Seth Cohen, but over 21 and not like him at all....

The next day I had to leave for San Diego, but we got up and drove down to Sam Clemente which is the beach town Heidi first lived in when she moved to Cali. It was gorgeous! It was quite different than Laguna- very European feeling and the train that took me to San Diego literally picked me up ON THE BEACH! We had crepes & lattes at the best place ever, and it was pure bliss.

Say hello to Preggers Bekah. Oh! That's my thrift store shirt, washed!

I heart you Heids!

The saddest news is that Heidi is leaving Cali and moving to DC... now I have no one to visit in Orange County.... One would think that having her closer to me on the East Coast is happy news... but.... but.....but......

It's not. But that story is for another time.......

Whack-A-Kitty on Fantastic Fridays

I bet this vid has been out forever and I just missed it since I do actually do other things during the day other than look at cute vids of kitties. But Oh.My.Gosh.

This is the most adorable thing I have ever seen:

I've been a bad blogger this week (well, bad personal blogger) Whoops. Things to come in the upcoming days:
  • Recap of my time in Orange County & San Diego (yes, months ago)
  • A new "Meet my Friends: the DEWs edition"
  • An important announcement
  • A recap of the 2nd-hand embarrassment I'm about to experience tomorrow evening in Philly
  • More vids of adorable kitties
  • Perhaps a new blog look because I found a cute new template
Oh, let's take a poll:
Should I be bekahbuttons.com or bekahdecker.com?

Whoever's response I like best gets to whack one of my kitties whenever he/she comes to visit.

Fantastic Fridays:

I've been walk/running. I say it's running, but it's not. I lie when I say running. I die when I try to run. So during my walk/runs, I've been listening to Arcade Fire "Funeral" cause the beat just makes me want to run err walk fast. The other day I discovered the song "In the backseat." Yes, I just discovered it. Even though that album came out in 2004. I think it's because it comes after "Rebellion Lies," and I just heart that song so much that I always end the album there. True story.

Anyway, I want to be in a movie, and twirl in the rain, and have this song playing. Add it to your Fantastic Fridays mix:

A kitty Thank you

Wanna know more about my family? Well, we send thank you letters from our cats:
Aren't they so polite?

Also, aren't they so cute?

Also, you'll notice this Thank you letter is addressed to "Uncle Dave." He is not our nor our cat's uncle. He is the uncle of my friend Ben. Does that stop us or any one else in our group of friends from calling him Uncle Dave? No way jose.

Fantastic Fridays: Charmed Life

Joy Williams has to stop starring in my Fantastic Fridays (no, don't!)! Here's a new one:

This makes me want to take off my chucks and walk barefoot... through a meadow.. and twirl around in lots of circles (but not too many, cuz I get seasick easily err twirl-sick) and hug D. (maybe special hug, if he's lucky)

Then I want to eat pinkberry and strawberry shortcake and pet kittens. That's my Charmed Life.. what's yours?

Happy Fantastic Friday.

PS: I found this guy who has a cool music website and he took my musical suggestion and wrote about it. Which of course was Paper Route because I haven't stopped playing their new album since it came out. The Daily Long Play. Have you been playing Paper Route on repeat? If not, stop what you're doing immediately and buy the album. Now

Why do they call you Buttons?

Good question! Everyone always wonders why I'm often called "Bekah Buttons" or refer to myself as "Buttons" or call my blog "A blog about a girl named buttons..." It's kinda a cute story:

Back in 2002, I met the man who became my husband. He didn't like me at first but wanted to spend a lot of time with me. This confused me a lot because he just made fun of me and hurt my feelings. But he liked my butt and thought it was cute.

Eventually, I wormed my way into his cold, stone heart. And when I did, he became a softer, sweet person instead of the cocky man that he came off (fine, comes off) as. (I just read that part aloud to him, and he pretended to be offended but really wasn't because he knows it's true)

One of the very first things he learned about me was that I love cats more than anything ever. I told him all about my cats at home with my parents: Buttons, Clarence & Cindy. I told him about Butterball (who got eaten by a fox) and Zachy (who died from cancer) and all the pictures of me as a little baby girl surrounding by kittens, hugging them so tightly they probably couldn't breathe. He thought it was cute, even though he didn't like cats. He thought it was so cute, in fact, that he began calling me "Buttons."

Buttons was and is my best friend. She is pretty grouchy and can be annoying because she is loud, but she loves me unconditionally. I miss her dearly because she still lives at my dad's house. When David first met Buttons, he fell in love. He realized how sweet cats could be- how loving and how snuggleful. He gave her a "pet" name- Cat Buttons (Buttons is pronounced B"aww"tons in this cute "pet" name). I think it's just because cat Buttons and I are so close, and I'm kinda like a cat.  So it was me- Buttons- and Buttons- Cat Buttons.

In my last semester of college, Kelly moved in with Lucy & I and we became fast friends- bonded over our terrible tennis skills and love for all cats. Kelly loved hearing about Cat Buttons, but sometimes got confused because my name was also Buttons. So, I became "Bekah Buttons."

That's the story of how I became Bekah Buttons, sometimes shortened to just Buttons...
This is Buttons. Looking for an afternoon snack

Lily Kate

Remember my preggers cousin, Laura and my cousband, Trevor, who I went to see in San Diego in March? No? Oh yeah, that's because I haven't blogged about it because I'm lamespice.

Anyway, I went to visit them for many reasons but one was because I wanted to see them before their little baby girl was born:
here we are with baby in belly

We had fun. More on that later. The point is, the baby is no longer in belly.

Lily Kathryn Grant
was born last Monday (don't ask me the date, time of weight.. only mommys know that kind of stuff!) and is too adorable for words.

she looks like her cousin Grayson here

Love this with her mom, Aunt Hedy (she doesn't call her Aunt Hedy- just me)

Congrats Lar & Trevor! I can't wait to meet little Lily.

It also gets me excited to meet June Bug Hackman. (Daughter of preggers-pants)  Oh fine.. it's June Alice Hackman, but I will only ever call her "Bug"
