The Bustle in a House

The bustle in a house
The morning after death
Is solemnest of industries
Enacted upon earth, -

The sweeping up the heart,
And putting love away
We shall not want to use again
Until eternity.

Emily Dickinson
We painted our nails her favorite color and looked at pictures. We went to Caruso's Italian restaurant and walked to Sheila's ice cream. We laughed when we should have cried and cried when we should have laughed. We tried to understand how we were supposed to move on.

I'm still trying...
