Why do they call you Buttons?

Good question! Everyone always wonders why I'm often called "Bekah Buttons" or refer to myself as "Buttons" or call my blog "A blog about a girl named buttons..." It's kinda a cute story:

Back in 2002, I met the man who became my husband. He didn't like me at first but wanted to spend a lot of time with me. This confused me a lot because he just made fun of me and hurt my feelings. But he liked my butt and thought it was cute.

Eventually, I wormed my way into his cold, stone heart. And when I did, he became a softer, sweet person instead of the cocky man that he came off (fine, comes off) as. (I just read that part aloud to him, and he pretended to be offended but really wasn't because he knows it's true)

One of the very first things he learned about me was that I love cats more than anything ever. I told him all about my cats at home with my parents: Buttons, Clarence & Cindy. I told him about Butterball (who got eaten by a fox) and Zachy (who died from cancer) and all the pictures of me as a little baby girl surrounding by kittens, hugging them so tightly they probably couldn't breathe. He thought it was cute, even though he didn't like cats. He thought it was so cute, in fact, that he began calling me "Buttons."

Buttons was and is my best friend. She is pretty grouchy and can be annoying because she is loud, but she loves me unconditionally. I miss her dearly because she still lives at my dad's house. When David first met Buttons, he fell in love. He realized how sweet cats could be- how loving and how snuggleful. He gave her a "pet" name- Cat Buttons (Buttons is pronounced B"aww"tons in this cute "pet" name). I think it's just because cat Buttons and I are so close, and I'm kinda like a cat.  So it was me- Buttons- and Buttons- Cat Buttons.

In my last semester of college, Kelly moved in with Lucy & I and we became fast friends- bonded over our terrible tennis skills and love for all cats. Kelly loved hearing about Cat Buttons, but sometimes got confused because my name was also Buttons. So, I became "Bekah Buttons."

That's the story of how I became Bekah Buttons, sometimes shortened to just Buttons...
This is Buttons. Looking for an afternoon snack

Buttons sounds like my favorite cat. Her name was Pebbles. She was born in a liter of kittens our cat had when I was six years old. My sister and I named the all the kittens after the Flintstones. Pebbles was mean to everyone but me. I still miss her even though she's been gone for along time.

What a cute story! :)

It makes me sad that Butterball got eaten by a fox. I once had a guinea pig that got eaten by my neighbor's roaming cat! :0

That picture is AWESOME!

Thanks for visiting my silly blog! :)
